St. Andrews Day 30th November

Today is a celebration for St. Andrews Day where Scotland comes together to mark the patron saint of Scotland, to enjoy a ceilidh with great food & drink including the famous haggis, neeps, and tatties.

The background behind St. Andrew has always been unclear however what we have known was that he was one of the 12 disciples of Jesus and was trusted enough to be by his side amongst others.

When preparing for battle, he promised to win and when he did, he wanted to become the patron of Scotland, whilst this was happening an X appeared in the sky. He did it all and won.

The X on Scotland’s flag today is the representation of our St. Andrew, patron saint of Scotland.
