World Baking Day

Tomorrow is World Baking Day, and what better way to spend it than to bake up your favourite treats using your favourite recipes.

We love the smell of fresh baking that runs through our bakery every day (especially the bread and rolls)!

Here is a wee recipe on to get you started on making yourself a lovely loaf:

What you will need:

500g of Strong white flour

2 Tsp Salt

7g sachet of fast acting yeast

3tbsp Olive oil

300ml of water

Method:

Mix your flour, salt and yeast in a bowl.

Make a well in the centre, add the olive oil and water and mix well.

If the dough seems a little stiff, add an additional 1-2 tbsp of water and mix well.

Tip onto a floured surface and knead for ten minutes.

Once the dough is formed and smooth, place it in an oiled boil and cover with cling film or towel and leave to rise for one hour to double in size.

Line your baking tray, tip the dough and punch the air out of it and pull the dough on itself, then gently mould the dough into a ball.

Leave for a further hour to prove and double in size once more.

Heat the oven to 220c/fan200C/gas7.

Dust the loaf with more flour, decorate and thinly cut how you wish.

Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown, and the loas sounds hollow when tapping underneath.

Leave to cool on a wire rack and enjoy.
