This week marks the beginning of Wimbledon 2022 and as the strawberry and cream season has begun we thought, why not add a bit of Scottish traditional shortbread into the mix with strawberries and cream and add a bit of crunch to the full taste.
The history behind the servings of strawberries at Wimbledon is that in 1877, when the first Wimbledon tournament was held the automatic suggestion of offering strawberries and cream to the visitors was because of the season in which the tournament began, so it seemed to make sense and the amount sold during the competitions was a staggeringly high number and has long since become tradition.
