After our blog posts showcasing our delicious Hebridean Baker collection we thought, why not give everyone a wee recipe on how to make your own oatcakes and shortbread (look out for our next blog post) give it a go and let us know how they turned out.
The ingredients you will need:
226g Oatmeal/Rolled oats
(You can add a bit of both for a more rustic texture)
½ teaspoon of salt
¼ teaspoon baking soda
6 tablespoons melted butter
¾ cup of Boiling water
Let’s get baking:
Season the oats/oatmeal with a little bit of salt and baking soda, add the melted butter and boiled water to form a dough, which should be firm not sticky.
Dust the surface with flour, then roll out the dough no more than 3-5mm thick, cut out rounds to make 5-6cm in diameter.
Into the oven on a lined baking tray, for 30 minutes, turn over after 20 minutes.
When they are lightly golden and cooked, leave on a wire rack to cool.
Once cooled store in an airtight container and enjoy.
